Things You Should Know Thursday

It is impossible to out exercise poor lifestyle choices! Here's some math I did (yes..I did math! :) to illustrate this point.

There are 168 hours in 1 week...

Let's say average adult sleeps 7 hours a night for a total of 49 hours per week..
That leaves 119 hours of awake time every week.

If you exercise 1 hour a day/week that's 7 hours a week you spend exercising or 6% of your week...
That leaves 112 hours for you to eat, work and play...or 66% of your week...or 2/3 of your week!

You know the benefits of exercise and know it's part of a healthy lifestyle, but if the other 2/3 of your time is spend making poor lifestyle choices; whether it be eating fast food often, smoking, living with  high stress without mental/physical rest, you simply cannot out exercise those decisions and meet your wellness goals.

Start with small changes...begin cutting down on pop, driving with your seat belt on, cutting down on smoking, meditating 5 mins a day, choosing a tall rather than a venti... The idea is to not become overwhelmed and miserable but to find small ways that will add together to make a big change during those 112 hours you'll never get back!

  1. There is a book "168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think" By Laura Vandekam. Very enlightening, we really have more time than we think we do. You have said it before, while you are watching T.V. or waiting on anything, you can incorporate a healthy living choice, squat's, drinking water, looking up healthy recipe, meditating. Love today's Blog. Thank's Amy!!
