Trainer Talk Tuesday

Scott and I are taking Financial Peace University on Monday nights. So, every Monday night I get to hear Dave Ramsy talk finances for about an hour. I admit readily that it's not my favorite topic to discuss for even 5 minutes. However, last night something really caught my attention.

He was discussing how some people put their money into aggressive investments, ones that promise to "pay out big" and produce results with your money quickly, only to find out it's likely a scam or the risk is nowhere worth the reward. He then talked about a billionaire whose advice was to read the book The Tortoise and the Hare. The tortoise always wins...because slow and steady, taking each step purposefully although not pretty at times and even sometimes painful, is what wins the race.

It's just like your wellness journey. The path to wellness is not something we can bypass with quick fixes like diet pills that promise to "pay out big". It's by making small, purposeful changes to our everyday lives and taking each step, no matter how difficult it may be, that we produce results that don't just last until our wedding day or until the summer when we have to wear a swimsuit...but they remain as for the rest of our lives.

If you are looking for a quick fix and speedy results you are not ready to make lifestyle changes...you're simply impatient and on a path to disappointment. Shift your focus from one of instant gratification to one of making small changes that will produce big results in your health for the rest of your life!
