Workout that Works Wednesday: Standing Fire Hydrants

I have coached several clients on the Fire Hydrant exercise where you begin on all 4's and lift 1 bent leg to 90 degrees then back down. It looks very similar to a male dog "marking his territory" on a fire hydrant, hence the name. :) However, this is taking the basic move and making it more complex. By standing with the Fire Hydrant you add a component of hip mobility and core stabilization while attempting to balance on one leg. You still get the benefit of working your glute muscles but it's taken to a higher difficulty level. Check it out and give them a try!
